  • How do I care for my RV awning?

    ➢ Wash it at least twice a year

    Leaves from trees, sap, and dirt stains can make your awning look old and worn out. Spraying it with a hose frequently can help clean off dirt and debris. However, you should do a thorough awning cleaning once or twice a year. If you are a full-time RVer, plan to clean it at least three to four times a year.

    ➢ Let it dry before you store it

    Inadequate drying is detrimental to your awning. It gives room for mold growth,  mildew growth, and rust. Before storing your awning, ensure it is fully dry, especially if you don't use it frequently.

    ➢ Lock it in place when traveling

    Many RVer neglects the locking mechanisms made to hold the awning in place during travel. Make sure that your awning is safely locked to avoid damage when in transit.

    ➢ Roll it up when not in use

    Exposing your awning to UV rays from the sun can damage it over time. Whenever you are not using it for shade, roll it up and keep it away to prevent damage from the sun.

    ➢ Make adjustments for harsh weather

    Take preventive measures to protect your awning from harsh weather conditions. For example, lower one part of the awning when it is raining so the water can run off easily. If it is windy, you can keep your awning away to protect it.

    ➢ Get a stabilizer kit

    An awning stabilizer kit is valuable if you camp in places with strong winds. It helps keep your awning fabric from flapping around when there is wind.

    ➢ Inspect it at least twice a year

    It is important to inspect your awning thoroughly to nip potential issues in the bud. Examine it for tears in the fabric, unusual noises, missing screws or rivets, etc., and resolve the issues to ensure it is in good condition.

  • Are slide toppers worth it?

    RV slide toppers are slide out awnings on the top of your RV slide-outs. In many ways slide toppers are worth the investment because they give your slide-outs extra protection from debris and water infliltration.
